Winter Projects To Cure Cabin Fever

Winter in Chattanooga can be just an early extension of spring, or it can sometimes be a long indoor winter giving way to the restlessness of cabin fever. Being indoors isn't a bad thing, so why not put it to good use and tackle some home improvement projects that are perfect for these uncertain months. Ready weekend warriors?

Walls

(Paint) - Painting is one of the least expensive home improvement projects you can tackle. If you find yourself indoors a lot this winter, why not paint? A new color is sure to liven up any room and will definitely brighten your mood after you spend hours on the infamous search for bread and milk on the prediction of winter weather.

(Wallpaper) - Yes, you read that right. Wallpaper is starting to rise from the ashes thanks to many of today's home improvement shows.

Doors

Ok, so the title is cheesy, but your doors are a great winter home improvement project. A fresh coat of paint and possibly new hardware can yield amazing results. If you want to take it to the next level, replacing doors is a very affordable way to give you a great updated look without having the costs of a significant remodel.

Kitchen

If your kitchen is outdated but a remodel is out of the question, you will be amazed at how paint and new hardware can make an older kitchen come to life! Modern colors and hardware can help improve the look of your kitchen so that you don't feel like you are a time traveler every time you head to the coffee maker each morning.

Keep Air Out

The winter wind and cold should stay outdoors. Around your home, there are several areas where the cold can enter (which also means your warm air is leaking out). Check all of the seams around windows and doors. If you feel air blowing in, you should address it with caulk, waterproof sealant or weatherstripping. While it's not as a glamarous project as changing the colors of a room or a quick update to your kitchen, it will help save you money on your energy bills...which you can then use for a shiplap explosion in your home (or whatever the new must-have HGTV decor will be).

If you run out of winter projects or winter actually arrives in Chattanooga this year, there's always Netflix.
